It's Only Rock And Roll
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: Sloop John B - Beach Boys
Had a little more time to flesh out the instrumentation of Falling In The Dark. It's turning into a much different song than I originally intended.

This is still pretty raw and unstructured as far as where verses, choruses, bridges, etc. will go. but it gives me something to build on as I concentrate on the melody and lyrics.

Falling In The Dark demo 2

Well, maybe that will come tomorrow, until then I have to work overnight (boo) but I'm bringing my headphones and a mp3 disc of all 3 Paul Westerberg Pantages Theater shows.

By 5 am I will be singing, 'I wanna go home, why don't you let me go home. I feel so broke up, I wanna go home.'

One foot in front of the other....
Now Playing: Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way? - Joe Ely
Break time, don't want to over do it. Start small, yeah, that's sounds good.

I gave up on Elm Tree, started sounding like the crappy, cliched country crap I can't stand, so I put that aside. Maybe come back to it someday.

Started on Falling In The Dark...A little lyric editing, and began the process of finding the chords and melody. Here's the first results.

Falling In The Dark demo 1

Tomorrow is another day...or maybe later tonite as well.

When It Began
Mood:  lazy
Now Playing: Get It Right Someday - Gear Daddies
Where to start? First of all this place is a mess. I can live with that.

Ok, I found my songwriting folder, hoping to get a head start with something I already started. Some of this stuff dates back to 11th grade study hall. Nice to know I didn't have many good ideas then, either.

Titles with promise: Pushing My Luck, Falling In The Dark, Foreverland, Do You?, and Elm Tree. Have to guess on dates, probably around 1988-1991. Written on the back of old work schedules, so I guessing I wrote these while machine operating at work.

These will have to do. Elm Tree sounds kinda quirky, and isn't very serious. Let's try that.

Reaching for the Martin, arming the recorder...let see what happens....

OK, I'm serious now
Mood:  not sure
Now Playing: Gettin In Tune - The Who
This is hopefully to chronicle and motivate me to write, record, and publish a CD worth of original songs. I have spent YEARS making weak attempts to do this, but just putting it off as something I can do 'later'. 'Later' is such an easy word for me.

Well, later is today. Thanksgiving 2004. No more words. And no more promises of love.

Ok, so I won't be working on it at all today. But that is excusable, after all it is Thanksgiving. There is gravy to smother multiple plates of food with today.

But tomorrow....it starts. I'm not kidding.
Until then, I have recorded some various Paul Westerberg, Jeff Tweedy, even Little River Band songs that I recorded to get settled into my new home studio. Wolfdog's Music

Let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme, suggesting rhythm.....
